Our Curriculum
Ofsted June 2024:
The school has reviewed its curriculum offer to ensure that it is ambitious. The rich and varied curriculum builds on previous learning. The school has identified the important knowledge it wants pupils to know. Pupils’ understanding of this knowledge is checked before they move on to new skills.
This section of our website is focused on our Curriculum and provides an overview of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework and the Curriculum offer for children in Years 1 to 6. There are also sections on Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) Development, our approach to British Values and International Learning at Benfieldside Primary School.
In line with statutory requirements, the new curriculum was launched in September 2014, coinciding with the introduction of the new National Curriculum in England.

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education if local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
